What is it like in Brighton, Great Britian?

I have been thinking about going there but would like some information about it first. What are the people like? Will it make a big difference in the way I'll be treated because I'm an American? Is it expensive to either visit or live there? ANY information about it would be wonderful.

Travel Tips
Brighton probably appeals to young adults (18-30) or senior citizens. It is not a good place i think for families.

Whatever you do do not take a car. Parking is a nightmare!!
