What kind of dog carrier baggage I need to get if I travel on Alaska airline my dog is small dog? |
Travel Info HE BE UNDER MY PASSENDER SEAT Travel Tips Call Alaska Airlines and ask them. Others I'm not sure of the specifics of Alaska airline (check their website), but I have used a Sherpa bag onboard the plane with my cat and have seen others using the same bag for small dogs too. You may need to call the airline sometimes the websites are a nightmare. If you call they can look it up and tell you. Also you may need to get a ticket for your pet to fly. you will need to get a kennel size of 50 to 100...alaska airlines will charge $75.00 for you to carry on the animal. i work for an alaska airlines subcontractor In the cabin, you can use a soft carrier - they are the size of a large lunch box or small duffle and have a mesh end so the dog can see out. He will actually be under the seat in front of you so you can't be seated in row 1 or 6 in a 737 or MD-80 nor the gallery bulkhead (row 29?) in an MD-80 nor in an exit row. For pets as checked baggage, it has to be a hard, plastic, approved pet carrier. Pet shops have thems. You MUST have reservations for the dog and pay a fee beforehand ($50-100 based on size). You might get your dog on at the last minute, but there are limits to how many pets can be on each flight, so get your reservation as early as you can. Most airlines have moved away from requiring health certificates, but check with Alaska when you make the reservation. All airlines have limits on checked pets about weather on-route (they don't want to broil or freeze a pet on the tarmac in Chicago). But that doesn't apply to carry-on. If he/she is high-strung, consider doggie tranqualizers that your vet can prescribe. If you have a stop along the way, you have to weigh whether you want to go out through security to walk the dog around (bring an EMPTY water container/dish and pooper scooper gloves/baggie). And then queue up to get back through security. Or just book a tight connection and keep moving. The reservation agent can work with you on that point. I fly Alaska a lot. Brought a dog up last month. |
