Can't use cell phones on a plane? |
Travel Info Now that you can't carry a cellphone on a plain, do you have to put it in the non-carryon luggage. What about an I-pod? Travel Tips I'm fairly certain it is only making CALLS while on the plane that is illegal. You can still carry the phone (and Ipod) on the plane with you, you just can't make any calls. Unless the phone has a "flight mode" that disables it's radio, it should be kept turned off as well. Others I think it is a great idea. Banning use of cell phones does not mean you can't carry it with you on the plane turned off. It does not mean you can't use it in a crisis emergency with national importance. I don't think any sane judge or prosecutor would prosecute any of the people on flight 93 for using their cell phone. How would you like to be on a flight with the middle seat for 5 hours with both sides of you people talking loudly on their cellphones? What a nightmare, and situations like that will occur. I don't want to hear how Tiffany went out with her best Friend's Mom's boyfriend while Jessica was... blah blah blah for 5 hours. You can still bring the I-Pod and use it. Just make sure any radio features are not on. No One has said. Eventually, you will be flying with only your underwear on! FCC-FAA. You know what FAA stands for? f--ed again and again! YOu can carry a cell phone on a plane, you just can't use it or have it on. Unless you are flying within (appx) 500ft of the ground, you will not get a signal on 99% of mobile phones. I have been on both commercial and private planes and have tested Verizon, Nextel (phone and walkie-talkie), and Cingular and have not be able to initiate a call nor carry-on a conversation from the ground above 500 feet or so. Unless you have a phone with an extremely powerful booster and battery, it won't work in the air 1st hand knowledge |
