Is Germany a good place to live?

Travel Tips
I lived in Germany for three years. Sometimes I loved it and sometimes I just wanted to go back to the states. A few things that are different are most stores close from around 12-2 for family time and most stores close by 6. The grocery stores don't close until 8. On Saturdays everything pretty much closes at 2 and on Sundays nothing is open except resturants. Germany is a beautiful country and it is a good place to live. The tax or VAT is high- 16% but they have a good social system. The gas is VERY expensive. My suggestion to you, if you really want to live in Germany but know little or no German or don't have a specialized trade skill then try to get a job on a military post. The only downfall of that is you will get paid in dollars but depending on what kind of job you get, you will get a gas allowance to buy gas on post- which is MUCH cheaper. If you have any questions or just want to talk about Germany, email me at thetravelingmartins@yahoo.com. If you contact me I can help get you the phones numbers you will need to get a job on post. Oh, by the way, now that I am back in the States I miss Germany so much. I wish we had stayed there.
