How do you say Dining Hall in German?

Travel Tips
Hello, am also from Germany. "der Speisesaal" is right as translation but an old fashioned word hardly anybody would uses in spoken language. If you are looking for the dining hall in a university/college area it will be "die Mensa" (from latin). For private dining rooms it's "das Esszimmer" which is not as common here as in the US but well known anyway. If you are asking for the place to have breakfast in a hotel it's "der Fr眉hst眉cksraum" (Fr眉hst眉ck=breakfast) or "das Restaurant" (if they offer all meals). "Speisesaal" will be OK as well for the hotel if that's the one you can remember the best : )
Hope I could help you and have a good trip if you are visiting us!
