It's a dump. Try Brugge, change from Eurostar at Burssels midi, its about half an hour away and simply perfect. We stayed at the Flanders, its ok and has a small pool. Everywhere in Brugge is safe, clean and easy on the eyes. If you go for Brugge (which I can recommend) go for hotel The Pand, it is the most beautiful one in the city!
