Is there a train that goes directly from Brussels to Rochefort? |
Travel Info I'm flying into Brussels, and I need to get to Rochefort. Is there a train station there? Would I have to take a bus at some point? Travel Tips Train station in Rochefort was unfortunately closed many years ago :-( . The nearest one is Jemelle on Brussel-Luxemburg line. If you fly to Brussels, you first have to take a train from Brussel-Nationaal-Luchthaven to Brussel Noord, and then transfer to another train (direction Luxemburg) to Jemelle. Timetable is at http://www.b-rail.be/main/e/index.php... . In Jemelle, transfer to a bus to Rochefort. You can find a timetable at http://www.tec-namur-luxembourg.be... (using it is a pain; first click "En", then "Itineraries", then "I am leaving from" - "Landmark" - enter Jemelle Gare SNCB, then fill in "I am going to" (address) and expected arrival time, and you should get a result). There is a bus approx. every hour, though rather fewer on weekends. Some buses go directly to Grottes-de-Han and other interesting places. If you arrive at a wrong time and there is no bus for a long time in Jemelle, you may just walk down to the main road, turn left (away from the rail tracks) and visit a small railroad + quary museum (Centre du Rail et de Pierre, http://www.valdelesse.be/start.asp?rub=2... ), or just walk directly to Rochefort - it is about 3 - 4 km along a straight road. Enjoy your trip! |
