Travel Info I dont have a calendar and my flatmates are not here. Can you please tell me what kind of holiday is today (25/05). Travel Tips Ascension day and fathers day. Others this weekend is memorial day holiday but other than that i dont know, today is nothing special Ascension Day commemorates the ascension of Jesus into heaven (Acts 1:6-11) following His crucifixion and resurrection. During the forty day period after His resurrection, He preached and intermingled with his apostles and disciples. According to tradition, it was first celebrated in 68 A.D. however there is no written evidence of the Ascension Day feast until about 385. Today it is celebrated mostly by Catholics and Anglicans.
