I am traveling to England soon, and i was wondering if carbonated beverages would explode in checked luggage.? |
Travel Info Friends i have in England REALLY enjoyed a particular beverage they had when visiting san diego, but it is not available in the UK yet. i was thinking about shipping it, but that would be too expensive. so now that i am going there soon, i thought i might take some with me but i fear it exploding in flight. the product comes in a can, like a coke can. thanks for your help!! Travel Tips Well, normally it shouldn t explode even they if the airport personnel mostly doesn t treat the luggage very well but when your friends open the cans, then you better watch out... there s gonna be a nice fountain...but if you open it with a lot of caution, you can avoid that of course. Further more, I really don t think that it s a good idea to put those drinks in your suitcase as the authorities surely won t be very amused and I doubt that they ll let you take it to Britain. And once they found sth suspicious, you can be sure that all your luggage will be examined... and that surely won t be funny for you. Shipping it also is a bad idea as it s not allowed to ship any carbonated stuff... that s what they told a friend of mine who wanted to send me some Mountain Dew (love it) Others MMmmmm I have travelled transatlatic both directions with > 2litres Carbonated and or alcoholic beverages in luggage. They are not likely to explode but should be packed correctly. In theory they should be for your personal use or classed as gifts. Be wary of any customs restrictions. As long as you are not taking too much you should be OK. It would be best to check with the airline first about exclusions and how/where to pack it. Previously have also brought quantities of Chocolate Oranges, Miracle Whip, Cheeze Whizz, Kraft Dinner etc..... Your friends may be able to get what you want to bring in the UK. There are a number of specialist importers and "American Shops". Good Luck. tell them to order it on the net, then its dhl's problem. |
