Travel Info Why is the area north of birmingham called scotch corner? Travel Tips I thought Scotch Corner was on the North Yorkshire/County Durham border on the A1 Others Scotch Corner is nowhere near Birmingham. Its on the A1 near Darlington in North Yorkshire, must be nearly 200 miles from Birmingham because it is where ancient britions traded with the celts To be fair, it IS north of Birmingham ... Evidently, the name originates from it being the junction where the road to eastern Scotland separates from the road to western Scotland. Scotch corner is a place up the A1 near Darlington. its not in birmingham or even near it There is no Scotch Corner in Birmingham. It is located in North Yorkshire on the A1, see map link. |
