It's typically 2 hours for British airports for international flights. Check with your airline.

I think that it's 3 hours.I was there in july this year.
Most check-ins open 3h before the flight but dead-lines can be one or two hours. Usually it is longer if going outside Europe.
The only safe way is to check with your flight company and it is usually on your ticket or associated documentation.
The deadline is usually 40 minutes. However that is testing your luck that you will get checked in, through security and to your gate in the 20 minutes before the gate closes.
Airline recommend that you check in 2 hours before take off and since the recent tightening of security they now say 3 hours.
I usually aim to arrive at Stansted (my local airport) 2 - 2 1/2 hours before take off.
When I was there in September, check in opened a little over 2 hours before the flight time. Usually you should be at the airport 2 hours before flight time, if you need to be there any earlier your ticket will tell you.
European flights 2 hours, Long haul 3 hours. However I flew to India recently, and was there 3 hours before, as I got to the front, BA staff ushered some latecomers for an earlier flight ahead of me, so it seems that if you are late, you get pused to the front anyway. Its the last time I get to the eitport 3 hours early!
