Can anyone tell me what birmingham station is like?

Travel Info
hi my brother is travelling to manchester and has to change at birmingham, he is going by coach. he is only 16 and i am really worried about him as he has a 40 minute wait there. can anyone reassure me?

Travel Tips
I've been there too through Birmingham. (Digbeth one) It's pretty simple, there is a shop there too. Make sure he finds out what bay his coach to Manchester is going to be at and what time too. So he can wait at that bay when he's there.. He'll be fine. Have fun..

ITs just like london.
busy and smelly
If you mean New Street it is fine. Very big and spacious - plenty of places your bro can wait in and be safe.
Birmingham station is fine. They have tons of staff there. make sure he keeps hold of his ticket because he will need to show it to the security to get out of the platforms and into the station and need to show it again to get on his next train. The train station is part of a shopping centre so there are loads of shops and cafes there so plenty to do. He won't have to leave the station during his transfer time, he can just sit and have a drink and a sandwich while waiting for his next train. There are loads of screens showing the departure times for trains and it's brightly lit and non-smoking. He will be fine.
Be careful because Birmingham coach station is not the same as the train station. There are waiting areas and it is a quite busy but it is safe enough. .
I wouldnt say it was the place to go in birmingham but it is nice enough just make sure he gives himself a lot of time to get to his next platform as the station is really large.
Its busy most of the time including into 10.30 11 ish so its pretty much safe!
I have been traveeling through birmingham late and on my own since i was 17 and have never had any problems
He'll be fine
