Myself and my boyfriend are looking to relocate to Birmingham soon. Where are the areas places to live? |
Travel Info We are both 31 and would like an area which has a few nice restaurants and bars. Also we would prefer to be near a train station for comuting in and out of the city centre, also hopefully be no further out than 6 miles. Travel Tips I had to move to Birmingham for 2 years for my job - and I settled in an area called Harborne. it is just south of the City adjacent to Edgbaston. As areas go in central Birmingham it isn't too bad. It has a good mix of housing, from trendy terraces to large detached homes. It also has a traditional high street with lots of shops, pubs and restaurants. The only "problem" with Harborne - it is a bit "Daily Mail reader" in it's outlook ! If you want somewhere a bit "trendier" try Mosley. This is far more cosmopolitan than Harborne - with lots of students and a good ethnic mix. The most exclusive neighbourhoods in Birmingham are just to the north east of the city in an area called Sutton Coldfield, this, however, is mainly stock-broker belt (the Gin and Jaguar brigade). Good luck ! Others Manchester depends what you can afford, Solihul is nice, but there are so many suburbs you'll really have to look there yourself. Moseley is the perfect place - although it does not have a train station - but a bus ride is about 20 minutes. (under 6 miles) to the centre Moseley has a variety of bars - from funky to the traditional style, has a music festival every year. Property is expensive(ish) but worth it. Moseley is def the best place! Hi Br um is a mixed city. Mosley, Harborne, Sell oak. Are fairly middles class settings with a good mix of people and life styles. The rest is open to exploration. Mosely. lived there for 2 years and still have some relatives there. |
