Travel Info Does it make sense to rent a car to tour Boston, or should I stick to public transportation? Travel Tips If you're not planning to leave Boston and Cambridge, don't rent a car. Parking is difficult/expensive, and Boston drivers deserve their reputation for being maniacs. The T subway system is an excellent way to get to most parts of the city you're likely to want to visit. Others Stick to public transportation. Driving in Boston is difficult if you are not familiar with the roads...lanes are narrrow and many streets are unmarked. under no circumstances should you get behind the wheel of a car in boston. in fact, if you can, find a desk, crawl under it, and cry like a baby girl. while this will not get you where you are going - or help you see boston. you can unleash your built up existential angst. i also recommend placing an emply casserole dish in a cold emply oven. place a chair in front of the oven. now crouch behind the chair - every so often glancing at the empty dish - and contemplate the abyss. great - hope this helps. i completely agree. you don't need a car to enjoy the city. if you plan to stay longer than a week and want to explore the surrounding areas, then perhaps you'd want to rent. but there is plenty to do via public transport and cabs. |
