Travel Info What are the best things to see and do as a tourist in Brisbane? Travel Tips There is plenty to do in Brisbane for the tourist!! OK so it doesn't have the glitz of the Gold or Sunshine Coasts but you can do day trips to all those sights or spend a few days in those spots if you want to. It depends what you are in to. But you should go for a walk around the Southbank parklands (also some very nice restaurants down there). It is also a casual stroll across the river to the CBD where you can check out the Queen Street Mall. There is a tourist info centre in the mall too which would be good to go and check out for ideas. If you are in to adrenalin type stuff you could abseil down the kangaroo point cliffs, canoe on the river etc etc - there is a company doing all that stuff - they were on one of the travel programs the other night (Tom Williams was the presenter). Mt Cootha - gorgeous gardens and you can go up the top and there is a great lookout over Brisbane. Shopping - Stones Corner is the place to go for your bargain shopping, DFO out near the airport is allright too. There is the maritime museum - I think they are doing renovations at the moment, but I took my parents there when they were on holidays and they loved it. If you are into dance music don't go past The Family nightclub on a Friday or Saturday night - the place is wicked. The Beat is interesting too! You could catch a football game (AFL and NRL) or some other event that's on. Others go north or south nothing in Brisbane Go to Dreamworld or get drunk. There's jack nothin' in Brisbane. err dreamworld is on the gold coast not brisbane there is a HUGE difference like a 45-50 min drive. and go to south bank that place is pretty cool, im from the gold coast South Bank is awesome.
