Where to stay in Brisbane?

I am planning a trip to Brisdane with some mates to watch the cricket, and need some recommnedations as to where we should stay. It needs to be clean, affordable and close to the night life. Can you help?

If your after cheaper accommodation check out the backpacker places. City Backpackers is just one example just up from Roma Street. Its close to public transport and the nightclubs not to mention hotel LA just down the road. Its walking distance to city, public transport (to get to the Gabba) and cafes at Milton and West End. Plus, plenty of young people to party on with!
anywhere in spring hill, new farm, red hill, paddington, kangaroo point, or west end is close to the city and the Gabba (cricket ground).
