I'm need a hotel in Cardiff for World Cup in Sept, where could i stay and travel in as they are all full!?

Travel Info
I have tried all sites for cardiff hotels, but was hoping that there is a suburb which is easily commutable that i should try.

Travel Tips
I'd try everywhere within a 20-mile radius of Cardiff and then keep going further out until you find somewhere. Check out http://www.traveline-cymru.org.uk... for an idea of how you'll be able to travel into Cardiff from different places (don't even think about driving into the city for a match) - e.g. places in the valleys are easily accessible by train.

Or you could have my spare room!!!

Merthyr is close to Cardiff, an easy commute - but you might also have trouble there.

You might be better trying somewhere like Bristol which has really good links to Cardiff and might be quieter in terms of getting accommodation because most people won't think of it.
Every hotel for miles around Cardiff is full when there is a major Rugby match. The suburbs outside Cardiff that have accomodation, as they used to be seaside resorts, are Penarth and Barry. I would be surprised if they have any rooms left. Newport, about ten miles away has some hotels, but not a lot as it is a former steel-making town, not exactly the place people stay for choice. That applies even more to the valley towns, including Merthyr: they have few hotels as nobody wanted to stay in the smog round a coal mine. In fact people going to the valleys on business usually stay in Cardiff (I know as I used to work near Pontypriidd).

If you are lookig for accomodation yourself, I think the people who suggest you stay in Bristol may well be right. Then travel in by train. Or try Bath, Gloucester or Cheltenham, which are pleasanter and not much further. Or if you have a car Ross on Wye. Bear in mind that the trains and roads are heaving before matches, not just the hotels.

Have you tried telephoning Cardiff's Tourist Office, which runs an accommodation service? You may get more advice if you speak to somebody than by looking at the internet.
