Anyone been to Cardiff??

Travel Info
I'm going in March, only for a day, and was wondering what people would suggest are the best things to do/ best places to go? Wanna see sights and eat during the day and party in the evening. Staying there overnight so can go all night!

Travel Tips
Ignore the idiots above, Cardiff's a great place.

Go check out the Millenium Stadium and Cardiff Castle.

There's not heaps to see in the City Centre itself, but if you're only there for a day, go see the castle, then on the open topped bus round the city, then over to the Millienium Stadium. Get a tour if you can, the stadium is amazing.

The good thing about Cardiff is almost everything is within walking distance, except Cardiff Bay, but thats only a short train ride away.

For eating, there's plenty of places. The Brewery Quarter on ST Mary's Street probably has the best quality of resturants in a close vicinity to each other. Wander round and see what takes your fancy. Avoid the Hard Rock Cafe, because its crap in Cardiff. The Old Orleans further up St Marys Street is much better. There's also an all you can eat chinese called China China, but that place gets mixed reviews (there's a better one in the Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff bay called Oriental Garden)

For nightlife, the most popular place is St Mary's Street. Thats where you'll find the biggest mass of bars, pubs, clubs and resturants. The Yard and Clwb Ifor Bach (known as The Welsh Club) are the nearest "welsh" places you can get. Other than that its your standard city nightlife scene. Cardiff for the most part is friendly enough, but you can get a lot of binge drinkers down from the valleys, so try and avoid the chavtastic places like Jumpin Jaks and ONeills.

You might also want to check out Mill Lane or Greyfrairs Place if you want nightlife thats a bit quieter.

If you get very drunk, you have to go up Chippy Lane (Caroline Street, next to the Brewery Quarter) for a kebab or some gravy/curry sauce and chips. Tony's and Dorothy's are the best places up there.

Have fun! Source(s): Born in the city and proud of it.

Other Travel Tips

I'm there too in march. Don't wanna go but can't get out of it, so I would suggest the train station to get out of the hole.
the best thing about Cardiff is leaving the place
