What should we see while visiting Shanghai China? |
Travel Info We plan on having 3 days in Shanghai in March to site see. Travel Tips Shanghai has few historical buildings of interest that still stand, outside of the Bund waterfront area. Most of those are banks, but it might be worth a trip during the day and definitely at night, when the waterfront is lit up. Avoid the Bund tourist tunnel, however. On the Pudong side (newer side of the river) have a drink at Cloud 9 at the Grand Hyatt, the world's tallest hotel (minimum drinks charge required). Again, night views are best. Go shopping the rest of the time...catch a show (acrobats or kung-fu) if one is playing. When shopping on the pedestrian streets, do watch out for "art students" that speak very good English (and francais, and espanol, and your language of choice). They'll sell you incredibly overpriced knickknacks if you let them. Source(s): http://wikitravel.org/en/shanghai... http://www.grayline.com/franchise.cfm/ac... Other Travel Tips Nanjing is really cool especially for people watching. The Jin Mao has a cool view of the city but is relatively way expensive. I recommend crossing the river on the public ferry at night and walking along the promenade, it's busy on the main side but not so busy on the Jin Mao side and there's a nice Starbucks if notions of American corporate imperialism taking over the world don't stop you from buying a hot coffee by the river. |
