Have any advice for traveling on a Carnival cruise to Mexico?

Travel Info
What are some things to do? How do I avoid overspending? Is going off the boat going to cost me money? Should I go to the Bahamas instead?

Travel Tips
mexico ( I am assuming cozumel) is much much nicer than nassau or freeport! Cozumel is a watersports / beach paradise and is alot cleaner / nicer than nassau. As far as overspending, stay out of the casino and the photo area. Those are 2 areas where people tend to overspend. of course watch your booze consumption if you are planning on budgeting! As far as shore excursions, you can spend a little or a lot on shore. Really it all depends on what you want to do. if you are just into going to the beach, take a taxi to a beach club instead of signing up for an overpriced carnival excursion. Cozumel is safe and easy to arrange your own tours. A taxi to the beach will be cheap.

Going off the boat will cost you money if you leave the cruise ship area. You'll have to pay for taxis, food, drinks, etc.

To avoid overspending, keep track of how often you use you 'sign & sail' card. Check it each night on the TV so that you get an idea of when and where your money is going.

You don't say where in Mexico you are going, so it's kind of hard to give you ideas of what to do. It's could be Cozumel or it could be Cabo. Completely different.

Carnival cruise lines are typically the entry level model into cruising anymore, so don't expect frills, fab food (think Sizzler), great clientel, or amazing service. But, they are what you make of them, so enjoy what you are given to the max! : )
