When is the best time to go to Cuba?

Travel Info
I know they have hurricanes late in the summer or beginning of fall, so I was wondering if anyone who has been there or just happens to know could tell me when's the best time to travel. 'cause I really wouldn't like to find myself in the middle of a hurricane and ruin my vacation :) Thanks!!!

Travel Tips
If you are like me and coming from a cold winter climate, any time is a good time to go to Cuba! Last time I went was March 2005. It was very warm in the day, but cool at night. Up until June, there is little chance of hurricanes. And who wants to go to a tropical country in June, anyway? March is a big month for tourists, as the kids are off school. Even though it is technically winter there, I still got one heck of a sunburn!! The winter months are also prime jellyfish season. They wash up on the shore during the night. They look like balloons or plastic bags, but DON'T touch them. They can still sting when they are dead. Mosqutioes are a real problem, also. They are tiny little things, yet they leave a nasty bite and some breeds carry malaria.
My advice? Go to Cuba in Feb-March. The hotels are at their best during the busy season, and there will always be something to do. Varadero is a good choice for a first time visit, as it is a very controlled enviroment. Very few locals, but still a nice little town.

I think right up to July you are fine, if you want to avoid a hurricane.
I am planning a trip late July into early August myself. Here are some facts:

The official hurricane season begins June 1 in the Atlantic basin, which includes the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. But the early part of the season normally brings few storms.

September is peak season in Caribbean, Bahamas, Mexico, U.S.

The odds of a hurricane forming and striking land in the Caribbean increases as the season unfolds in July and reaches a peak in September.

The biggest threat to the Caribbean and the Bahamas, the U.S. and to eastern Mexico begins in August and lasts through October.

These odds tell you that a hurricane is more likely to disrupt a August or September Caribbean vacation than a June vacation and that you don't have to worry about hurricanes from December through May. But, August or September is a better time than December or January for your dream trip to the Great Barrier Reef in Cuba.

Spring time. Not so hot, less humidity, no risk of a hurricane.
I've been there in August, September, and October and during Ivan, and also Katrina. It just made the time there more interesting, and my photos more spectacular.

(the bad weather did not even come close even though it was headed "straight for us") other than a whole lot of rain from 4-6pm allowing a great window for nap-time, we were fine.

Anytime between October and June is good. When you get into July/Aug the weather is simply HOT. Not that I mind, but it is indcredibly hot. (bathing suit/towel never dries even inside with AC).

Like someone else said, anytime is a good time in Cuba. :o)
