Going to cuba, any suggestions exactly where to go? |
Travel Info Any travel companies from the UK that specialise in that holiday destination? Travel Tips Definatley take a tour of Havana if you are not staying in the city. While there check out the Tropicana show, its absolutely amazing! Also in Varadero they have a great flea market with lots of carvings, knickknacks, jewellery etc at cheap prices. Varadero is a good town for nightlife. Lots of great restaurants & clubs to go to. The locals at very friendly & I'm sure where ever you go in Cuba you will have a fantastic time! You can get alot of information at www.tripadvisor.com in the Cuba forums & resort reviews as well. Very helpful resource. Others You have to go to Havana, it's a great place. I agree, you have to go to Havana, it really is an amazing place. I went a few years ago and stayed in Havana for a few nights before go to Varadero for a lazy week on the beach. Ditto Havana, it's a great place and don't be afraid to be a proper tourist and go on guided tours around the city. Very informative and interesting. The whole place has so much history. if you can also go on a west coast tour that shows you cigar factory's, tobacco plantations and (best of all) the rum factory's and distillery's (great places, you can get drunk on the fumes coming out of them!!) also we went to the El Indio caves, beautiful and a nice trip. if you want a bit or r&r go to varadero, it's the eastern peninsula and is gorgeous and surrounded by sea so theres lota to do. We swam with dolphins there, a truly magical experience. There are loads of company's that go there, we went with Thomas cook but you could go with almost any tour company (Thomas cook were good though and we booked a lot of the excursions through them) Cuba is a fantastic place, I really want to go back!! http://uk.search.yahoo.com/search?p=cuba... Thomas Cook are very good for Cuban holidays and once you get to Cuba the Thomas Cook reps do some good trips too, trips to Havana, Santiago De Cuba, Trinidad, catamaran trips, dolphin trips and numerous other trips too, Varedero is a lively resort with plenty to see and do, Cayo Coco is a very laid back resort with beautiful beaches to laze your days away on but very quiet unless you go on the trips, hope whatever you decide to go you have a fab time, Cuba is so beautiful and the Cubans are wonderful people who go out of their way to make your holiday even better for you, enjoy. You'll LOVE Cuba... I've been there 8 times! What everyone already said about where to go is bang on.. so let me tell you what to BRING! Reading material.. you won't get any there! I have no idea what the Cubans read recreationally because all I've ever found is non-fiction and Hemingway, so if you like to read on the beach or before bed make sure you bring enough for the whole vacation. Leave it behind for fellow tourists who forgot to bring any, or give it to a Cuban :) A bath puff.. I forgot mine once and I couldn't find one ANYWHERE.. even face cloths are hard to come by! A stainless steel thermal mug! Greatest invention on earth for beach vacations.. keeps your drink cold and the sand out, and doesn't blow away when empty! I found lots of thermoses in Cuba but no mugs, and they make great parting gifts for your favorite Cuban! One trip I actually traded my mug for a massage on my last day... little did the masseur know I was planning on giving it to him anyway.. :) Have a wonderful vacation :) |
