Travel Info when you buy something in the states with a credit card, you are never asked for a pin kode, but it is very common in europe. what exactly is a pin kode? Travel Tips PIN is Personal Identification Number. It is common in the States as well, but when you use a debit card. Never share your PIN with anyone you don't want to have access to your funds. Others a pin code is used for a debit card ie.( bank card) not a credit card Personal Identification Number. It's a special code you have to type into the keypad at stores, or cash machines, so you can use the card to withdraw cash from you bank account. Since no one else knows your code, they can't steal your card and use it to rob your account. Postal Index Number A pin code is a code that comes in Europe with your ATM card, but your credit card also has one. This way you only know the code and nobody else can use your credit/ATM card when you make a purchases.
