I want to know about shopping, movie theaters, parks, zoos, amusement parks, attractions, restaurants, hotels, etc. PLEASE GIVE DETAILED ANSWERS ABOUT THESE THINGS. INCLUDE ALL THESE THING IN YOUR ANSWER CAUSE I WANT TO KNOW....

Travel Tips
Shopping in the Detroit area. The best malls are Great Lakes Crossing in Auburn Hills just off of I-75. That is one of the largest malls in the US. Another really good mall is Somerset Collections in Troy off I-75 at Big Beaver road. That is a very expensive mall, but it has everything a 16 year old could want. Then there is Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights on M-59 at Schoennherr road. This mall is fairly big and has many stores. The best towns to go shopping in for walking is Birmingham and Royal Oak. These two cities both have nice specialty stores and can be pricey, but they have the best products.

Theaters- Birmingham Palladium is the best theater in the Metro Detroit area. It is really nice. There is also AMC 30 Forum at M-59 and Mound rd. Then at Greenfield Village in Dearborn (southwest Detroit) there is an IMAX theater. I'll get to Greenfield Village a bit later. There are so many movie theaters, but Birmingham Palladium is awesome. There is also the Drive-In theater at the Pontiac Silverdome on M-59 at Opdyke rd.

Parks- There arent too many parks to go to. There is Belle Isle which i heard has vastly improved. There is Stoney Creek Metro Park in Macomb and Oakland Counties. Stoney Creek offers good swimming, many paths to roller blade on or walk, golf, disc golf, fishing, volleyball, and paddle boats. It is like 4,500 acres of land to do stuff on. You can also rent pavillions to hold events at. Other parks are Chandler Park Family Aquatic Center in Detroit and there are other Metro Parks in the area, but Stoney Creek is the best one. You could also go to Lake St. Clair for there are many parks along the beaches.

Zoos- The Detroit Zoo on 696 at Woodward Ave. in Royal Oak is a very good Zoo. It is quite large and they just put in a new polar bear exibit. That pretty much does it for zoos.

Amusement Parks- Everyone in Detroit goes to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. Its about a 3 hour drive. Or on the west side of Michigan there is Michigan Adventures in Muskegon. Cedar Point is on Lake Erie and Michigan Adventures is on Lake Michigan.

Attractions- Besides the shopping and the movie theaters, there are places like CJ Barrymore's which has go-carts, arcade, mini golf, volleyball, billiards, and bumper boats. It also has a restaurant in it. Another popular arcade type place is Dave and Busters. Dave and Busters is more adult in that you have to be 21 to get in by yourself, and 25 to get in with people under 21. Dave and Busters is fun when you have friends there with you, it has pretty much every game you can think of. It has a pretty good restaurant too. In the winter around Detroit, we do have ice festivals. Shows of ice sculptures, but many of those have passed. Coming up in May there is the Electronic Music Show in Detroit, in which it is a weekend event. Other attractions could be museums. Detroit has a great art museum in the Detroit Institute of Arts. There is also Greenfield Village, the largest outdoor museum in the world. The indoor part of the museum is huge also. There is a lot to look at there and may take a few days to see everything. You should go to Greektown in Detroit. There is a lot to see there. Cranbrook in Bloomfield Hills has a great science exhibit. It has a nice museum and planetarium if that interests you.

Restaurants- Well, in Greektown there is Pegasus which is alright, Hellas, and there is also Fishbones. Fishbones has awesome food and I've never heard anyone say anything bad about Fishbones. Another downtown Detroit restaurant to go to is Slows BBQ. That restaurant has gotten great reviews as of late especially since the Super Bowl. You should also go to Astoria, a pastry shop in Greektown. This is the best pastry you'll ever eat. You could go to the city of Royal Oak, they have many restaurants along S. Main Street such as Mr. B's, Mongolian BBQ, and many other ones..too many to name. Buddy's Pizza has won best pizza of Detroit several years in a row, The Whitney in Detroit...which is really expensive, Fillipas on M-59 in Utica is really nice at moderate prices (14-24 dollars a person), Hard Rock Cafe in Detroit, there are several good restaurants in Birmingham, Farmington Hills, Rochester Hills(which also has really good shopping too i.e. The Village), and Sterling Heights. Sterling Heights has the road M-59 which has these off the top of my head...Champps,Buca di Beppo, La Shish, Center Stage (culinary arts school restaurant), Red Robin, Dave and Busters, Cheeseburger in Paradise, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Bonefish Grill, Texas Roadhouse, Max and Ermas, Mongolian BBQ, Beefcarver, Chilis, Carrabas, and Outback Steakhouse. Most of those are national franchise so you know what you're going to get. M-59 also has tons of stores, bunch of new little strip malls.

Hotels- Marriot Renaisance is the tallest building in the GM Renaissance Center. It is a very nice hotel with a high cost. Near the top of the hotel there is a restaurant called Coach Insignia, which is a great restaurant. The there is Double Tree in Detroit, the casinos have hotels and several restaurants. There are tons of hotels along the expressways I-75 and I-94. But on Gratiot Ave. near M-59 there is the Sterling Inn which has its own indoor water park. Dave and Busters has about 6 hotels around it within walking distance and you should not have a problem finding a hotel.

For the things you wanted to know about, there is a lot for you to do. If you come during the seasons, you could try going to a Detroit Piston game at the Palace of Auburn Hills, a Detroit Tigers game in Detroit, or a Detroit Red Wings game. Id suggest going to a Pistons game if you could. Only thing Detroit lacks is amusement parks, but it has plenty of everything else you listed.

Try going to your local AAA to find out more information on traveling to Detroit.

People have written that Detroit is listed as one of the most dangerous cities in the US. It is, but to our local residents. Detroit is extremely courteous to outside people and that was shown with the Super Bowl. It has a very southern hospitality feel towards visitors. I know what it is like here, I've lived here all my life, even though im only 20 lol. But anyway, hope you have fun for your birthday.

Um to stay in the good parts. have fun?
Detroit is not a pretty city. If you have ever played Sim City, think of Detroit as a city where everyone has moved out and all of the buildings are decrepit looking.

Tiger Stadium was cool, now they don't play there anymore and its another building decaying in what was once a great city. Drive the extra little bit and go to Toronto.
Forget Detroit. Go somewhere warm.
If ur looking for something like that then you should go to Florida. Detroit isnt really going to give you that satisfaction of what you are looking for.
I lived it Detroit
Visit the Stroh's Brewery, but don't go unarmed.
