What is there to d in Michigan? |
Travel Info What is there to d in Michigan? Travel Tips Depends on what you like, where you're visiting, and what time of the year you're coming. In the Detroit area, you should visit Greenfield Village and the Henry Ford museum. Also, the Renaissance Center (GM Headquarters), where you can take an elevator all the way to the top. If you go north, there's Mackinac Island, which is loud and touristy. If you want something quieter, I'd go to places like Traverse City, which just has some hotels and beaches. I've also heard that Kalamazoo has an airplane museum, but I've never been there myself. In the winter, there's some downhill skiing. Also, lots of cross-country skiing up in Houghton Lake. Others Absolutely nothing. Lived here for 10 years or so. Your in Detroit-go hang out at MGM Casino. Mackinac is a nice place too. Go north and go camping, fishing etc. Visit Upper peninsula. Especially Pictured Rocks national lakeshore (don't miss boat cruise from city of Munising! it's really amazing!) Pack up and move to North Carolina like everybody else up North. Just kidding. Just about anything you want to do, if you are willing to travel to do it. First off, the museums are great (Henry Ford/Greenfield Village, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Historical Museum). There's Comerica Park (the MLB Tigers) in the summer and Ford Field (the NFL Lions) in the winter. Michigan's biggest tourist attraction--believe it or not--is Frankenmuth (north about 50 miles on I-75) where people go to eat a huge chicken dinner. (No, I'm not kidding. The city is famous for that.) The city is interesting, and Bronner's (an all-year Christmas store) is great for a date. As the others said, Mackinac Island is also beautiful. Hardly in Detroit (about four hours north), but worth the trip. |
