Is grand rapids michigan really a yuppy kind of town? |
Travel Info i heard there is a lot of preps and rich people here is that true? Travel Tips Grand rapids has a bit of everything, people wise. There are area's that are certainly ritzy, or preppy, such as East Grand Rapids or Forest Hills. Then there are area's that are mid-level, money wise, like Sparta, or Comstock Park. It's all sorts of people, in all sorts of neighborhoods. Others I didn't spend much time there but I thought Grand Rapids was ok. A bit religious though. no its a lot of fun i go there fairly often i live 25miles west of gr i think grand rapids is kinda grungy but maybe there are some rich like anywhere and some poor...i don't like it. It depends on where you are in Grand Rapids......the inner town is just as crummy as any other city, yet the outskirts like Forest Hills and surroundings are what you could call..."very well off" I have in-laws that live close to Grand Rapids and they are 'different' in the fact that are very snubbish. I grew up near Detroit, and our 2 families are sooooo different! My family was always 'family-oriented', while they were more 'me, myself, and I'. I do not why this is, but I have heard this from several other non-related folks as well! That would be a safe assumption. It's very conservative as well. |
