Travel Info What's the deal with money in the Dominican Republic? Do I need to exchange? Is it easy to do? Travel Tips I was in the D.R. several times in 2005, and I found that they accept the US dollar as easily as their own pesos. If you get there and decide that you need to exchange money, any bank will happily do it for you. When I was in DR, it was approx 28 pesos that equalled a dollar. If you're good at math, you can figure out the cost of things yourself. You will receive change in their money whether or not you're spending American dollars. It's pretty. You can always use your debit card if you run out of cash in your wallet. Hope this helps! Have fun! (Note: it's always hot there.)
