Travel Info How much is a taxi from airport in punta cana to hotel in resort district...thank you...? Travel Tips Please be aware that Punta Cana is at LEAST 3-4 hours from MOST of the airports, and 5-7 hours from the other two. (I bleieve there are 7 airports In the Dominican Republic. That's the only reason I haven't gone there, although I understand it's extremely beautiful. The 2 most popular airports are Santiago (STI) and Santo Domingo (forgot the airport code, but I only flew to Santo Domingo once). When we took a taxi from Santiago to Puerto Plata, which is almost an hour away on the northern coast, we paid $70. I think we underpaid, but he accepted it. WARNING: Many taxi drivers are shady w/ foreigners. Make SURE you negotiate a rate before you even THINK of opening the door to get in. Otherwise, they will happily tell you "$200, please!" when you get to your destination. Usually, a resort will have a driver come to pick you up so that you don't have to worry about taxis. Call them and tell them which airport you're coming in from, as well as the time your flight lands. It always works in your favor to tip the driver because believe me, you're going to want to go other places without giving him your arm as payment. Sorry I typed so much. I don't usually drink caffeinated products, but today I had 3 cups of coffee and a Mt Dew. Source(s): Several trips to DR Other Travel Tips Check with your travel agency or call the hotel where your plan to stay before taking any transportation by your own...most of the hotels offers free transportation from the airport because is already included with the accomodation. I did that. |
