How much does living cost in dominican republic?

Travel Tips
The cost of living is relatively low there. It has the lowest priced real estate in the Carribean. A new 3-bedroom home cost about $70,000 US.

The cost of lioving is very cheap there, food and fres fruit, lots of great fish, stay away from the meat unless your in a pricey tourist hotel. Houses and proterty are cheap, but you have to really check the fine print on ownership!!! Women are beautifulo there also, hope you speak spanish or at leat a little! Get away fro touist area's and not much english spoken!
I think it's actually very expensive at the moment. I was there a few weeks ago - lunch in Montecristi (way away from tourist areas) cost me 350 pesos (a bit more than 10 bucks) for a normal portion of spaghetti and a coke. Not to mention beers for well over a dollar in simple bodegas, and double that in tourist areas.

Property is reasonable.
I'd say you could live comfortably on around US 1,500 per month. This is including rent and food and very little entertainment. If you buy a car then your costs go up ... things like deposits on apartments or buying a car and so on are not included in the $1,500 - that is purely an estimate assuming that you are already settled here.

This is for one person, not two ... and for a one bedroom apartment, possibly with pool, maybe A/C if you're lucky! :)
Personal experience.
