Speeding offence loophole? |
Travel Info speed camera flashed. 41milesph in a 30. any loophole to get out of this ? Travel Tips dont speed Others You always get one smart *** answer don't you (see above). If it any help, sometimes the flash, but have to film in them. If you do not get a fine notification through the door within two weeks, you should be okay. But I am not sure that the two week period is an actual legal requirement on the part of the police. Gotta be worth checking out though. Good Luck (I live in England and someone down here stole an actual camera during the night!) KC UK Dear oh dear, between you and your friend.... :-) If you are driving in a residential area, 30 is the maximum speed. It's not a target to be reached, so it's OK to drive at 25 if you wish (much to the chagrin of those behind you) but not at nearly 45. Speed limits in some really heavily built-up areas in the south of England are being reduced to 20 mph; if this catches on it might be as well to take the lead out of your right boot and learn to ease off now. I hate speed cameras - I think they probably cause as many accidents as those they stop, so I do have some sympathy with you on this one. But the only loophole I can think of that might conceivably get you off the charge is that you were driving to hospital under emergency conditions - and even then, you'd have to back that up with evidence. I think they've closed the one where you can say you're not sure who was driving if you share your car with someone else like a spouse. It used to work but alot of people started using it. If it was a permanent camera you might be screwed, sorry to say. If it was a policeman with a spped gun you could ask them to check it for inaccuarcies as there have been a number of faulty examples. If the beam moves from the windscreen to the bonet it gives an artificially high reading. 41 in a 30, shouldn't recieve more than 3 points and a smallish fine if you don't challenge it. If you do and lose you'll also be lumbered with costs. If you take it to court, and the police do not send you the picture taken as evidence, then you can get off with it. Evidence has to be given to the defendant, but they rarely do this, and so you could get away with it. |
