I am going to be volunteering in Brazil. Can someone give me more information on Brazil?

The native language is a variation of Portugese...there are some similarities to Spanish, so if you could learn either one, it'll go a long way in helping you to fit in. Stay close to your group, especially in the big cities where there is a lot of violence and crime due to the overcrowding and crime. Most of Brazil is rain forest...though that's been shrinking over the last couple of decades. Of course, the Amazon River runs through it...not a place you want to get lost in!
