What is the cheapest way to tour Europe? |
Travel Info My fiancee and I want to go to europe for our Honeymoon (we'll be married next november). He really wants to see Germany and Rome, Italy I want to see Ireland, Tuscanny, and Vilsec, Germany. We're flying out of San Antonio, have about a month to kill, and a buget of about $2,000 U.S. dollars. Any ideas? Travel Tips A popular, inexpensive, and easy way to tour Europe would be the Eurail pass. It allows you a number of days of travel within a certain time period. Its really nice, because you can just go to the train stations and get a timetable printout of the route from information to your next destination and hop on a train. When the conductor comes by you show him the pass with the date written in. They can only be purchased in the U.S. To see a bit of Italy and Germany via Eurail pass would be no problem. Ireland may be a little more difficult to get to. I would recommend these cities in this order; Rome, Florence, Venice, Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Stuttgart, and Heidelberg. I think Vilsec is around a Munich, but I'm not sure. It must be a small town. Look at a map and pick out the places you want to visit. Pick a starting place and use your best judgement as to where you should go next and where you should terminate your tour. Use the german rail website to look up rail routes between cities anywhere in Europe (www.bahn.de) to learn how long the ride should be. Also, with the Eurail pass second class train travel is fine. First class on European railways always seemed to me to be such a rip off. The only difference I saw most of the time was different color seat cushions. Don't hesitate in getting a second class Eurail pass. Source(s): http://www.eurail.com/ http://www.bahn.de/ Other Travel Tips just fly to Italy: Rome, Venice, Florence the north part, drive thru Austria see Viena, and then drive to Germany... fly to Ireland and then home... orr... go to a city/capital that has all from Europe, like Bucharest? railway is the cheapest way to tour europe. There are many railway company which has europe tour. for example inter railway under 25 age near 200 $ for traveling. my friend who had tour the europe europe with railway We travelled by Eurail Pass and it was very reasonable. Besides, you can really be with the residents of each country! For areas that are out of the mainstream, you might have to rent a car, but I found the drivers and speed of the traffic to be terrifying! |
