Travel Info What are the 'musts' when visiting Budapest? Travel Tips You mean, what do you "have to" visit? I'd recommend you the Parlament, the Hal谩szb谩stya, M谩ty谩s templom (= Mathias Church...) But, since Budapest existed in the Roman empire too (the western side was called Aquincum), there are a lot of things that you can visit: http://english.budapest.hu/ But, if you are in Hungary... You have to know, that you are in the country of wines. I tell you: I'm a hungarian, and I've tasted a lot of wines (from other countries too (US, French, Australian, etc...)), but... well, there are no words to express the difference, I experienced... our wines are absolutely superior in every way. (Excuse me for this, but this is my experience.) The town Tokaj (approx. 200 km east from Budapest) is world famous for it's wines (unfortunately, the marketing strategy of our country for wines is very bad in my opinion, so that's why it's possible, that you haven't heard about it). So if you don't go there to taste wines... :-) (It's famous for sweet wines, like Asz煤. ("Vinum Regnum, Rex Vinorum" (= "King of wine, Wine of kings"))). http://www.tokaj.hu/english/index.php... If you like dry wines, than you should visit Eger. Ok... You don't have to go to those towns, you can get good wines (from all over the country) in Budapest too... I think, in a country, which is more than 1100 years old, there are a lot of "musts", so I don't want to write you a book about it right now. :-D |
