I'm a single 26 y.o. man and would like to go on holiday on my own. Any suggestions? |
Travel Info I live in the UK and am thinking of a short haul trip. I don't want to go on a "singles" holiday (ie to meet someone romantically) and would feel a bit funny about going to a traditional holiday resort like the Canaries or Spain where there are loads of couples. Can you suggest anything? Travel Tips My cousin is 29 and has been going on holiday alone for the past 10 years (for some reason he never seems to be in a relationship come holiday-time) - he generally stays in hostels the first couple of days and hooks up with fellow travellers. Alternatively you can book an active holiday - I went diving in Egypt in 2000 and there were quite a few singles booked for the same package - diving is incredibly social: there's always something to talk about, even if it's 'did you see that big fish?'. Others You can always go to the Europe, but you will feel lonely after seing couples everywhere. if you want somewhere close Dublin or Belfast or Reykjavik in Iceland or Helsinki are good spots, f you want to go further Thailand or New Zealand cant be beaten A good place for you to go would be to Thailand. The country has tons of travellers from UK, Australia and USA who are 18-30 years old and many go by themselves. In Thailand go to Bangkok and go to Khao San Road, a road full of backpackers, guest houses and bars. Shared rooms are like $1-4 US per night, food is less than $1 for a massive plate of delicious Thai food, and in the dorms and guest houses you'll meet plenty of people, many travelling by themselves. From Bangkok, hook up with some people to go down to the Islands - Koh Phangan has a full-moon party with DJs and everything once a month that lasts all night and everyone in Thailand goes. You won't regret it, it's not a singles type of trip, and you'll meet plenty of travelling partners. How about Cyprus? It is a bit of a traditional vacation spot but it's like party central down there! You'll meet tons of people (esp. if you go in July or August)the night life is lots of fun and the beaches beautiful. If that's what you're looking for then go to Agia Napa or Limassol. And if you are interested in history and culture, you can find ancient ruins all over the island and check out the museum in Nicosia. Best part is that it's only about 4.5hours from London Heathrow Airport. Good luck and have fun! |
