Where can I purchase Cheque-Vacances in France? |
Travel Info I am arriving at Charles de Gaulle airport and staying at a half dozen or so chambres d'hote that accept Cheque-Vacances. If the Cheque-Vacances can be purchased in the U.S. prior to my peparture, I would prefer doing that. Travel Tips I think you're confusing two different things Travelers cheques (which you can buy at Amex, Thomas Cook and many banks) and Cheques-Vacance. I seriously doubt that you can actually BUY Cheques Vacance outside France - they are usually given by French companies to their employees as another form of compensation (or incentive). Cheques-Vacance are really popular in France and accepted at many establishments (I remember even paying for gas using them). Others You cannot buy Ch猫que-Vacances as they are vouchers given by the compnies to their employees (by the sport and social club usually). You can get Travellers checks fromthe US in euros. If you plan to bring some money, it's safer than cash anyway, as you have serial numbers and it's insured. Then you can change it to cash in any Bureau de Change or bank. |
