Can a child with chickenpox travel to paris france one week after spots appear? |
Travel Info grandson aged 5 developed chickenpox spots on monday 5 june will he be able to travel to disney paris on 12 june Travel Tips Chicken pox is an airborn virus and can be spread if he comes in direct contact with anyone who is not vaccinated or have been exposed to the virus. If he coughs, he will infect those people. On an airplane, he could cause a massive outbreak. He can not travel until they are dry and crusted. Airlines will not allow him to fly and agents are trained to watch for obvious signs of disease, chicken pox being the easiest to spot. On top of that, he is not going to feel like travelling like that when he's that sick. It takes a good 7 days or more for them to get into the scabbing phase. Take him to the doctor and let him decide when he is well enough to travel. Get documentation from his doctor and call the airline if you have to change your dates. You will have to rebook and should be able to do so at no charge since it is a medical reason but will have to provide documentation to the airline. Hope he gets to feeling better. From Familydoctor.org Chickenpox is a disease that can be very easily spread from person to person. Because chickenpox is so contagious, a child with chickenpox shouldn't go to school or day care until all the sores have dried or crusted. (This includes travelling) Others i doubt they will let you on the plane? dont think so! I'm told that the child is infectious as long as the scabs are still attached. Hi, it is best to have a doctor to confirm it is chicken pox first. This is because it might be other ailments like alergy or rashes. If it is, your doctor will be best to let you know how soon he can be out of confinement. As the diesease is just starting, it may take a week or 2 for him to recover. Recovery varies from person to person. And after recovery and disappearance of scabs, he is still contagious for another week. So, if chicken pox, best to have him isolated at least 3 weeks, which will meant postponement of the trip by at least 3 weeks. I'd say he won't. The average time for the blisters to crust over is a week, so it's quite a gamble to still plan on going - if he is still contagious, you would be deliberately exposing thousands and thousands of people to chickenpox, including adults, to which the disease can be fatal. Either way, it is now high season at Euro Disney, I would not expose a recovering 5-year old to a day of walking in crowds, myself. http://kidshealth.org/parent/infections/... |
