Travel Info Any one ever driven on the route napolean in france its scary? Travel Tips It's a fantastic road...as you drive up the mountains from the valley near Grenoble you see the towns getting smaller. The road is not very wide, but it isn't a bad road... have to take it every time I visit my son-in-laws family...They live in Corps. which is halfway between Grenoble and Gap on the route Napoleon. It's a beautiful place, and if you can, go have a meal up at Boustigue...we celebrated my daughters wedding there, and had one of the best meals of our lives... The chef is fantastic, the views of the valley and mountains magnificent...Worth the stopover! Others French drivers in general are scary! Crazy Holidays http://www.beyond.fr/sites/rtnapol.html... Why? Great Scenery, no toll booth... what is the problem? If you've got the time it's a better route North from the Cote d'Azur than slogging up the A6. Food is better too, and what you save in tolls will pay for your meal. Used to live down there and driving is easy! Just keep your wits about you. Remember it can be a local pastime to tease foreign drivers. The biggest hazards we ever found were locals out hunting. Dogs all over the road and lots of people with lots of guns. The biggest nuisance is Dutchmen with caravans! This road is heaven.. it's gorgeous. It's sometimes a bit steep and narrow but it's worth taking it instead of a highway. You'll have to be patient because you need time to do the whole road. Enjoy it ! |
