Does anyone have any suggestions regarding things to do, places to visit, dine and shop in Paris, France?

Travel Info
I am planning my first visit to Paris, France during Thanksgiving break. I have never been there and I would love some suggestions for places to visit, explore, dine, shop etc. other than the obvious ones like the Eiffel Tower or seeing Mona Lisa.

FYI: This is also the first over-seas trip I will be taking.

Travel Tips
I found walking around the city and just having coffee at at cafe the most enjoyable. Every corner has such character. The Latin Quarter has great restaurants and great shops.

You can walk from Notre Dame to the Louve....stop at a cafe...watch the locals....the sights and sounds.

Tourist sites that are a must: Louve....Notre Dame...take the train to Versailles...so worth it.

What ever you do, you'll love it. Paris, I have found is the best city in the world. Be courteous to the French, they will be courteous to you.

Have fun!!

My wife and I were in Paris for our honeymoon a few months ago. We went to a restaurant recommended by a friend and ejoyed it tremendously: L'Atelier du Joel Robuchon. It's among the few three-star Michelin places, and they offer a number of smaller dishes rather than a big mian course so you get to try a lot. The waiters were helpful, friendly, and spoke English. I found this link for more info:

It's not cheap, but if you like good food then it's worth it.

Have fun!
I would suggest after going up to the Eiffel tower take a little bateau mouche ride on the Seine River...the Musee d'Orsay, Notre Dame de Paris, take a walk down the Champs Elysees.... Eat in bistro restaurants they are usually cheaper----i.e., steak frites... if you are on a low budget....
Shopping:Department stores: Le Printemps & les Galleries Lafayette or for cheaper goods the Monoprix stores....
I hope you enjoy your journey. Paris is a very beautiful city and safe as long as you are careful in the subway-metro (you know the pick-pockets...)
If you're a somewhat adventurous eater, there's a wonderful little restaurant near the Tour Montparnasse called "Monsieur Lapin" where they serve nothing but rabbit [well, and all the trimmings, including a salad that was bigger than my table!]. The whole place is decorated -- very kitschily [is that a word?] -- with all kinds, shapes, sizes, forms, etc. of rabbits in all kinds of media -- fabric, stone, wood, china, and so on. The rabbit I ate [my first -- and I was hesitant, but when in Rome... or Paris!] was roasted in a white-wine-and-Dijon-mustard sauce and was FABULOUS. My friend and I had 2 bottles of wine, 2 main courses, 2 humongous salads (and I think we had room for dessert!), and it cost us 500F [this was 10 yrs ago, so the euro wasn't an issue yet] or about $85. I'm assuming the place is still there b/c my friend and her husband have been back fairly recently and have eaten there again.

I just checked -- it's still there and the "Carte" looks even better than before! If you read French, here it is: http://www.monsieur-lapin.com/
Personal experience!
