Which city would be better to visit in Ireland... Cork or Shannon? |
Travel Info We are two guys in their mid-20s who will be traveling through Ireland in May. We will be driving to Dublin and hope to see some historical sites as well as meet girls along the way :) Travel Tips I would agree with some of the other posters, Cork seems to be more interesting than Shannon - especially if you don't mind rather dirty port town of Cork. If you take the whole surrounding area in account, Shannon and Co Clare and up to Galway would be better. Especially Galway is great. Beautiful city, LOTS of great bars and things to see and great surrounding country side. Source(s): Been to Ireland 3 times. Love it. 2 times Galway, 1 time Cork, 3 times Shannon, 2 times Dublin....(too big for me) Other Travel Tips Cork Without a doubt, Cork. It's the second largest city and there are lots of things to do in or around the city itself. It is also a great base from which to explore the South West, including Kerry! Shannon, on the other hand, is little more than an airport town with little to hold the tourist for long. Warehouses and industries make up the vast majority of this town.
