...and is it any different in costa rica? (this trip would be in the first week of june)

Travel Tips
Well, it really depends what area you're going to. Lets assume you're thinking about the islands off the coast (most likely Amberguis Kaye, town of San Pedro). This is the most touristy area due to the great reef for snorkeling, suba diving and they've got the "Blue Hole" close by. If so, then I wouldn't be too worried. Bring your repellent but the islands aren't anything like the forests of Belize.

Now if you and your fiance are the rustic/adventurous type and you're planning to go inland to say Cayo District where the town of San Ignacio is located, then I would be concerned about mosquitoes. In my opinion this is the best part of the country. Lots of outdoors stuff like exploring caves, swiming under tropical waterfalls checking out Mayan ruins in the jungle. I lived there for a year. So, if you want more info on what to do there send me an e-mail. bryski342@yahoo.com

Others
It depends on when you are going also. During the rainy season the mosquitos can really be bad, but during the dry season they seem to be more tolerable. I would let this be a big decision-maker for your trip.
