Where can I learn to scuba dive?

I have a week's holiday and I would like to go somewhere reasonably nice but cheap to get to from the UK where I can do my PADI training. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would prefer not to go to Turkey or Egypt.

If you've only got a week long holiday, you'll probably want to stick around Europe so you don't have to fly too far. I was certified in the south of France and had a great experience off the coast of Marseilles through this company http://www.sportextreme.com/phdico9.... A friend of mine just went last week to Spain and got certified through this company and had good things to say about them. http://www.prodiveeurope.com/. If you've never gone diving before, read the websites carefully to see what courses are offered for beginners and how many days they spend with you and how big the classes are. Hope this helps a bit.

You could try Malta. To get most out of your holiday, do your theory in England with your pool sessions and then get a referral to complete your open water course abroad.

Don't knock Egypt, just don't do Sharm... head to Taba in the Sinai Peninsular, stay at the Hyatt Regency....

Egypt and the Maldives have the best diving that I've ever encountered.

Carribean is cr@p and overrated, Aus/Belize is good, but quite alot of coral bleaching has occured.
Sorry dude I have no idea where around UK to learn how to scuba dive. But if you where in Australia it'd much easier for me to suggest somewhere.
go to north sea
save up and do the course in malindi kenya. its cheap and on an all inclusive resort too so it doesnt kill your pocket.
