Has anyone stayed at a more awful motel than the Radisson at JFK?

Travel Tips
I stayed at one with my mom once that was really bad. The first room they put us in hadn't even been cleaned since the last guests left. The 2nd room wasn't much better, totally disgusting. There was a drunken party going on next door. We saw a naked girl running down the hall being chased by 2 naked men....they seemed to all be having a good time. Naked drunk girl later fell down the stairwell and an ambulance had to come get her. We called the front desk and complained....it didn't do any good. All the other places were booked up so we really didn't have the choice to go elsewhere. In a word...HORRIBLE!!!

I don't know how bad that place is , but in 1990 my Mom
& I stayed @ a Hotel in Florida, off some main Hwy.
(sorry I don't remember what one) & there were bugs outside & then dead bugs on the carpet inside the room.
Don't they have a vacuum ? ! We went to bed over the
bed covers in case the blankets were not washed & we left in the morning !
Yes, I stayed there once and it does suck. But so does every hotel near JFK so you really dont have much choice. I have never seen a worse selection of hotels in my life as near JFK airport.
I actually HAVE stayed there once - I won't again! It was pretty bad, considering that it's a Radisson. I was expecting a certain level of quality from them. Especially since this is a "hotel" not a "motel".

But...I've stayed at FAR worse! Once, my hubby and I broke down in King City, California on the freeway. We were towed into town, and had to stay at a motel right next door to the repair place. When it only cost $23 it should have given me an idea. The place was soooo horrible. I was in fear for our lives! The bed had a big dip in the middle, and there were roaches, and it stunk like stale cigarettes. It was the middle of summer - no AC, no ice, and there were a group of drunken Mexicans from the bar next door fighting in front of our door.

Forever more, I will compare any place we stay to that horrible experience and it doesn't seem quite as bad!
I have never stayed at the Radisson JFK, but I think my hotel, if you can call it a hotel, wins hands down.

When I was a kid my grandparents used to take us skiing in the Sierras and we would stay at Eckart's "Deluxe" Cabins. There was a double bed and a twin bed crammed in a room, the floors were linoleum (this is winter, mind you!), and we never had hot water! You could let the water run for an hour and it was still ice cold--and tasted like, as my grandmother so delicately put it, camel piss.

Well, the last time we were there (thank heavens) we finally discovered why we never had hot water--the taps were switched! For some reason my sister was taking forever running the "cold" water and we noticed it finally got hot!

The beds were super squeaky and only had a mattress. And I know the bedspreads were from Betsey Ross's sewing club! The door never really locked very well, and the only light was a bare bulb with a string.

Even as a kid with limited travel experience, I knew this place was a total dump. Because of trips like that, I now have such OCD about where I stay on vacation!

Happy Travels! And character building experiences!
