As of the United States 2000 Census, the village had a total population of 5,076. The Village of Kings Point is in the Town of North Hempstead. It is on the Great Neck Peninsula on the North Shore of Long Island and is often grouped together with the other hamlets and villages and referred to collectively as "Great Neck." The United States Merchant Marine Academy is located here. Geography Kings Point is located at 40掳48'56" North, 73掳44'16" West (40.815655, -73.737725)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 10.3 km虏 (4.0 mi虏). 8.7 km虏 (3.3 mi虏) of it is land and 1.7 km虏 (0.6 mi虏) of it is water. The total area is 16.08% water. Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there were 5,076 people, 1,401 households, and 1,203 families residing in the village. The population density was 586.8/km虏 (1,519.0/mi虏). There were 1,455 housing units at an average density of 168.2/km虏 (435.4/mi虏). The racial makeup of the village was 91.67% White, 0.87% African American, 0.08% Native American, 3.55% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.65% from other races, and 3.19% from two or more races. 1.95% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 1,401 households out of which 38.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 79.7% were married couples living together, 4.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.1% were non-families. 11.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.14 and the average family size was 3.38. In the village the population was spread out with 24.1% under the age of 18, 17.8% from 18 to 24, 17.4% from 25 to 44, 26.1% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 122.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 125.7 males.
