Is a 17-yrs-old aeroplane considered to be old for long haul flight? |
Travel Info I've seen an advertisement that a new company would be providing non-stop long haul flights to various destinations. But I also found out that almost all of their planes are at least 17 years old. I'm just wondering whether those planes are considered old or not. Thanks in advance for any information provided. Travel Tips Check and see what airline/nation the planes are flying for. You are more than ok with a reputable airline flying in the USA, where the FAA regulations make flying safer than driving. Other nations vary widely and are usually way more lax. Others absolutely not. 17yrs. is about middle of the road. Airplanes and their engines are regularly overhauled, refurbished, and maintained. The airframe could be perfectly fine, and FAA regualtions set certain maintenance standards. 17 is fine. Depends on the maintenance record for the planes. If they are flying out of USA, check with FAA to see if the airlines is legit. |
