What is Bonfire Night and where do I see it?? |
Travel Info Its a festival in the UK Travel Tips 5 November or weekend nearest Celebrates Guy Fawkes day with a bonfire & fireworks, food & drinks. Mostly small scale held in peoples gardens, and is dying out, partly because most towns hold a large public firework display. Ask friends if they are having a firework party and ask to join in is the best way. It is usual to have a 'guy', old clothes stuffed with paper/rags to look like a man and set on top of the bonfire. Guido Fawkes and his fello conspiritors placed barrels of gunpowder in the cellars of the Houses of Parliament intending to blow it up when the King arrived for the opening. They were discovered and captured and executed. Guy Fawkes dat celebrates the fact. Although it replaced the ancient beginning of winter fire festivals and all hallows eve which is just a few days before hand. Remember Remember the 5th of November Gunpowder, Rreason & Plot!
