Others
golf, lots of it.
Haggis hunting.
Plenty.

It's a stupendously beautiful country where you won't have to be bored for a single moment, and I'm not just saying that because I lived there for seven years.

If you're active, go Munro bagging (climb every hill over 914.4 m - there's 284), or try a Ben - Ben Lomond lies beside Loch Lomond, is easy to get to by train, and you'll have a great day out. If height isn't your thing, there are plenty of trails, cycle routes, and you can even go surfing in Thurso - but yes, it's cold...

If you're a history nut, there are plenty of castles, ruins and religious sites to keep you occupied - quite a few castles are staffed by volunteers, who I've always found to be incredibly knowledgeable, and happy to chat.

If you're into art, there's the National Gallery, National Gallery of Modern Art, The Burrell Collection, and the Kelvingrove Museum - also, don't forget the annual Edinburgh Festival, and if you're into architecture, there's Charles Rennie Mackintosh - the Art School, the tearoom, Hill House.

If it's burly men in skirts tossing cabers, go to a Highland Game.

If it's food: haggis, scotch broth, neeps and tatties, salmon, venison, deepfried Mars bars, Cranachan, Cullen Sink.

If it's cities: Edinburgh with its castle, meandering streets and summer festival; Glasgow which is the best city to shop, after London - other cities are Aberdeen, Dundee, Perth, Stirling - just check them out on Wikipedia.

And then there's nature. That will just have to speak for itself: http://gallery.cdegroot.com/slideshow.ph...

I like Loopy's guide to what she did in Scotland, and her photos are lovely: http://kiwi.pyro.net/~loopy/scotland.htm...
