Travel Info In Plymouth, England is area called The Hoe a safe place to live? Travel Tips Plymouth is Britains 14th largest city so expect all the normal levels of crime etc associated with a large city. That said Plymouth is one of the nicest cities in the UK and is home to a very large naval base and port. Plymouth Hoe is an area that overlooks the sea and is most famous for being the place where Sir Francis Drake played bowls before finally setting off to defeat the invading Spanish Armada. It offers superb views across Plymouth Sound to the fort on the other side that guards the entrance to the harbour. The word Hoe is actually Anglo-Saxon for high point, so nothing to do with any seedy red light district! Good travel guide for the whole city here: http://uk.holidaysguide.yahoo.com/p-trav... Others Heh...eep...doesn't sound like it! There's not much accommodation around there, and what little there is tends to be expensive. It all depends what you mean by safe, tho'. There is crime in Plymouth and it is high compared to other parts of the south-west but low in comparison to London. Modified 1 year ago |
