Where is the tallest Maypole in the UK? |
Travel Info Where is the tallest Maypole in the UK? Travel Tips The village of Barwick in Elmet, near Leeds in West Yorkshire. No one knows when the village maypole was first erected. It's height is approx. 90 feet and it is reported to be one of the tallest in the country. It is taken down every three years to be repainted and erected manually with the help of ladders and ropes. I know of another one in a village topside of Dewsbury and another in a village south west of Stratford but I don't know how high they are... |
