Travel Info What are good things to do in S. Devon. Family with 4 yr child? Travel Tips Yes, North Devon is lovely but it is a bit of trek from South Devon with a 4 year old. Anyway, you don't need to leave the South to have some fun. First up is Paignton Zoo. They recently refurbished it and it's a gorgeous zoo. It's certainly 100 times better than the concrete monstrosity that is London Zoo. Then you have to go to Torquay to the Model Village - preferably go at night as the minature town is illuminated and you get to see a U.F.O landing! Of course, you must check out Dartmoor. Get in your car and just drive - it's so gorgeous as are the lovely ponies. There's a place called Badger's Holt which is basically a stream and picnic area, but it's great fun. You can paddle in the water and chill. I've yet to find a 4 year old who didn't like the Dartmouth Steam Railway. It runs from Paignton to the gorgeous fishing village of Dartmouth - it's a truly lovely way to see the coastline. There's also a great 'adventure' park called Woodlands Leisure Park, which is in Totnes. It's fab because there's lots for toddlers to do as well as more grown up children (including yourselves maybe!). And of course don't forget the beaches - they are gorgeous. If you get a chance to drive to Camber Sands, go. It's sand dunes everywhere plus you can have afternoon tea at the lovely Burgh Island (which is on an island and where Noel Coward and various other stars stayed in the 30s and 40s). Goodrington Sands in Paignton is also lovely as is Meadfoot in Torquay. I grew up in South Devon so am very biased but it's a great place to visit - enjoy your stay! Others Tell me the name of the city and the country and I let you know examples. www.aatcheaptravel.com Go up to North Devon and surf. What a football(soccer) match Modified 1 year ago Best thing to do is get in a car and just drive round. You end up discovering some beautiful places. Woolacoombe has a lovely long beach. Illfracombe has an intresting museum and nice Harbor. Lynton and lynmouth go rock pooling. The best places to go are the places you have not visited yet. Also Exmor national park try to find the ponies. |
