A question for non-Texans? |
Travel Info When you think of Texas, what comes to mind? I just want to know what kind of stereotypes and generalizations are out there. I've heard some stories, and had some experiences, but I want to know if what I know of is widespread. Just tell me what you consider Texas and Texans to be....just don't be stupid about it. Easy points! Travel Tips Pride...not like the bad kind but just proud of who you are, your state, etc...of course I think about cowboys etc. as well but while working on a project for work last year I had to talk to several Texans and not only were the incredibly helpful, it was the pride in who they were that came across. I think that changed some of my stereotypes. Others that they're not as cool as californians!!! ahaha! Great Tex-Mex food & cowboys! I think of heat, heat, and more heat!!! And then I think of the largeness of the state. And then, hate to tell 'ya, but I think about how much it would stink to live there. Mostly because my dad left my family for a year to go work in Dallas. And he hated it. You are talking stereotypes... So I will let it rip. None of my own personal ideas. Texans are cowboys with big hats and accents. They LOVE their state, think it is one of the best out there so they are cauky and conceded. Many are very racist, especially since there is so much Mexican migration and they do not like it, so that is why the ranchers are out there with their shotguns. Very conservative... Cowboy hats and drawls. Been there many times. Texans are like most USA people presently. |
